This Bridge Called My Back
Coming from a tradition of miniature painting and carpet weaving, Bangash's interest lies in the formal and conceptual underpinnings of the grid - a binary structure of power, which bears, gives form to, and disappears into the composition itself. Titled after a book, This Bridge Called my Back _ an anthology of artworks, essays ad poems of a self-described group of color first published in 1981. It is a five channel video installation, in which Bangash on all fours, balances on her back, both a bench and a man in five different locations.
